Nuclear Engineering & Nuclear Engineer
Nuclear Engineering is the application of the principles of nuclear science for the benefit of humankind. It is a broad field, based on the natural laws governing radioactive decay, nuclear interactions including fission and fusion, and the interaction of radiation with matter.Nuclear Engineers are problem solvers who may develop and use computer models, sophisticated monitoring systems, or software that uses artificial intelligence principles to improve safety. The nuclear engineer, therefore, requires knowledge of energy removal and conversion, reactor theory, materials science, instrumentation and control, nuclear fuel cycle, radioactive waste management, nuclear safety and risk assessment, neutron physics, chemistry, and the energy-environment interface covers.
